House Majority Leader Eric Cantor upset in Republican primary by Tea Party unknown Dr. Dave Brat

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, a Republican from Virginia’s 7th District, was upset in Virginia’s June 10 primary by unknown Tea Party candidate David Brat. Roll Call indicates that the district was considered a safe seat for the Republicans, with no Democrat yet emerging as a challenger.  Unofficial results have Brat leading Cantor 56% to 44%.
