Trump Surges into Lead With 1-Point Advantage Over Biden in Latest Rasmussen Poll

President Donald Trump has pulled ahead of former Vice President Joe Biden in the latest Rasmussen presidential poll, leaving the 2020 presidential race in a dead heat a week before election day.

Trump leads Biden 48% to 47% in results announced Monday, with 2% undecided and 3% supporting other candidates.

Rasmussen Reports polled 1,500 likely voters nationwide, by telephone and online, from Wednesday, Oct. 21, the day before the last presidential debate, through Thursday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 25.

According to Rasmussen:

"It’s neck-and-neck, with ... Trump just barely ahead .... The latest national telephone and online survey finds Trump edging ... Biden 48% to 47% among Likely U.S. Voters. ... 3% [] prefer some other candidate ... 2%[] remain undecided. ..."

Rasmussen pointed out that the presidential race has been tightening since early in the month.

Ironically, Trump actually lost the popular vote in 2016, yet still won the election in the Electoral College. In this latest poll, Trump is projected to win the popular vote as well.

Meanwhile, millions of voters already have cast votes by mail or through in-person early voting. Nevertheless, perhaps, in part, for that very reason, prognosticators are predicting potential delays in election results ultimately being finalized. Then, of course, there is the potential for post-election litigation, especially if actual election results are close, or clouded by questions over their accuracy and legality.
